Fruits Vs. Vegetables

I wanted to touch base on foods and nature again.

Today while drinking a blended fruit drink I was wondering to myself…..exactly why on Earth would we eat vegetables in nature?  First off, most don’t have much of a scent, if any, so how would we be drawn to them?  Or color.  Most vegetables are green, which means they’d blend in with a lot of the other weeds and grass and such, so imagine how difficult they’d be to find in nature.  And the taste….well….those that grow above ground are often times kind of bland and don’t really present any kind of major “kick” to our taste buds and, let’s face it, there’s no salad dressing or vinegar or anything else like that in nature.

And those that grow below ground, if someone in the far past hadn’t happened to be pulling on weeds one day, how would we even know things such as carrots or onions existed?  So, due to the fact that they are so well hidden, were they really meant to be eaten by humans?

Last, but not least is the nature of a lot of vegetables.  Once you take the plant, it is gone.  There is no way for it to reproduce.  It is in my opinion that when we take an entire plant with no other means for it to reproduce (Unlike fruits and nuts) then maybe we weren’t meant to take it to begin with.  Or, if we were, perhaps we should only be taking part of it so that it has a chance to continue to grow.

Now let’s look at fruits and “some” berries.  Most of them (More fruits than berries, really) have some kind of scent when ripe, so we’re drawn to them nasally.  Most have colors, usually vivid, which stand out from the tree or bush they’re growing on, so we see them visually and they’re easy to spot.  Once they’re all gone off the bush or tree the thing that made them is still standing and will produce again.  In addition to vitamins they also give us calories for energy which most veggies SINCERELY lack.  Last but not least, most have a taste, often sweet, which entices our taste buds and makes us want to eat them.

So, in my opinion, eat your fruits, and make sure to have a variety of colors, but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t eat many veggies.
