Younger Women and Older Men

It amazes me how some women who are older are disgusted when an older man dates or marries a younger woman or even looks at younger women, even if as early as their mid to late teens as long as they're developed for their age.

So, for those ladies who are disturbed by this, let me ask you a question...since men can reproduce until they're dead, don't you ladies think that's genetically ground into us due to thousands upon thousands of years of biological programming? To look for women in their prime reproductive years?

Say, for example, situations were REVERSED. Say men could no longer produce sperm after the age of 51 (Average age of menopause for a woman) but women could have children until they're old and gray. Don't you think that would make women start looking at men in THEIR prime reproductive years if their biology was trying to get them to mate and reproduce? Just something to think about.

I mean, physiological differences can easily be why this is happening. It's not that we're "sick" or pervy, but, rather that we have thousands and thousands of years of evolutionary programming ground into us telling us why we should be looking for signs of puberty, potential motherhood, etc., etc., and it doesn't stop for US because, unlike you ladies, we can make babies up until we die! So why WOULDN'T we, at ANY age, be looking at women who are biologically "women"?

This would be why it's so difficult for women to relate to this mindset. As you age, your need and ability to have children decreases. Ours may decrease a tad bit with less hormones, but the desire is still there.

Also, I know that it's horrible and I definitely do NOT condone this, but why do you think men cheat with younger women? It's because they're often times more attracted to them because they're closer to the prime years of reproduction. You can't be ticked off at the ATTRACTION because they're younger. Because that's genetically ground into a male until he dies. You can only be ticked off at the cheating. But the attraction to those types is always going to be there due to how we can reproduce even when we're old and gray. It just is.

It doesn't make us sick, it just makes us male. There's a difference.

Everyone judges, even Christians. Don't deny it!

The Bible is filled with conflicting statements or those that are rather ambiguous. When Christians say they don't judge, or anyone else says it for that matter, I start to chuckle. Because, technically speaking, every time we make a choice it's, well, a judgment call. Because we judge whether or not we like something, or whether or not we should make a choice, etc., etc. And everyone's judgment calls will be different since everyone has had a different life based on different experiences to tell them what they should do, what they like, what they don't, etc., etc.

Even Christianity's fundamental belief is a judgment call. By saying only people who believe in Christ will get to heaven, they have basically condemned everyone who doesn't believe to go to hell if they don't do what they do. How is "that" not judging? By merely associating condemnation with not believing, Christians are making a judgment call in the fact that "not" believing will lead someone to condemnation. So, in effect, just about EVERYTHING is a judgment call in my opinion.

So, yes, even Christians judge. If Christ was real, even he judged. If, in fact, Christ viewed people as sinners that needed saving, then he was judging that they were not UN-sinners. Does that make sense?

It's like....hmmm... one of those things...when people think that doing good deeds are for unselfish reasons, when most of the time they're not. Most people do good deeds because it makes them feel good for doing so. Therefore, by default, by doing an unselfish act, they're actually being appeased internally, which could be considered a selfish act.

The only unselfish act I can see that may truly be unselfish is if you risk your life for someone else or give it up for someone else. Because in that case, you may not be around to FEEL good that you were doing a good deed. On the other hand, perhaps knowing that people will admire your bravery after you died will make you feel good at the time knowing that, which means you are, technically, making yourself feel good by thinking that's what will happen after you die. Which could be considered a selfish act..since you're doing it in hopes that you will be admired afterwards.

Yeah, I know. I think way too much.

Wrath of the Titans

I saw Wrath of the Titans today. Actually, I was a bit disappointed. The beginning 3/4ths of the movie was rather slow, the dialogue rather mundane, and I swear everyone was mumbling. The last 1/4th was good, but overall, it wasn't even a billionth as good as the original in my opinion. I should've waited for it to come out on DVD instead. Oh well.

Collectibles tidbit...Antique Tiffany Tiles and Mid-Century Modern 1950s Dunbar Furniture

Antique tidbit for the day. In the 1950s some of the tables and lamps produced by Dunbar, designed by Edward Wormley, came inlaid with genuine antique Louis Comfort Tiffany Favrille glass tiles, which were produced in the early 1900s and often used around fireplaces and mantlepieces. Where and when the Dunbar Furniture Company managed to get such an abundance of such antique tiles is something I am still researching, although legend has it that Edward Wormley bought a large lot of them in an auction early in the 1950s.

I Love Proving my Mom Wrong...

So I had a garage sale with my Mom today. Prior to this, it had been established that I was going to sell a couple of larger antique/vintage furniture pieces since most people on Ebay won't buy stuff like that since shipping prices are too high right now.

She assured me that, "No one was going to buy those ugly, clunky things." I assured her they would. Both were mid-century pieces (A large starburst topped table with 4 watermelon colored chairs) and a black and turquoise telephone table/stand) and, having written a book on antiques and collectibles and knowing exactly what is hot and what is not, I knew what was in demand.

So, I said, "Okay, whatever mom", and put them up for sale anyway. The FIRST buyer we had today? She bought both of them.

The Adventures of Tintin Animated Feature

I rented this on Blu-Ray yesterday and all I have to say is...wow. It was, hands down, the best computer generated animation I have ever seen. The humans were SO realistic. They just keep getting better and better. One day, I'm sure we won't even be able to tell the difference between real and computer generated. As a side note, the story was actually quite good! A little drawn out at times, and the movie was probably a little longer than I had wanted it to be, but overall...a rather good film. It gets better as time goes on, so don't give up on it once you start watching it!
