I came from another place, and another time...okay, perhaps not "time" time, but within reason. I was born and raised in the middle of a corn field in a couple of small towns surrounding Decatur, Illinois and basically moved directly from those places TO Florida about 11 years ago. Where I'm from, at least during the time I came from there, "country girl" meant something else. Perhaps a smaller town gal, a little bit of a tom boy, but nothing extreme. But then I came here. Here, even small-town girls seem to be some kind of weird mix of masculinity/bi-sexuality/sex toy who likes to be man-handled and degraded/party girl/Aching for a Psychiatrist types due to their low Self-Esteem which they try to counteract in ridiculous ways. Apparently, the in-things to do in Florida for a LOT of women I'm finding in personal ads are to smoke pot and often think it's not actually a drug, mudding (Really? Where I'm from most women didn't LIKE to get dirty), UFC watching, can't be seen without a drink in their hands, experimenting sexually with other women or wanting to and then turning around and thinking they're not bi, football game cheering, frequenting bars and clubs even well into their 30s, having sex roulette with a variety of people, sometimes even freaking HUNTING, and tattooing and piercing themselves non-stop.
Now, I'm sorry.....but none of those things I'm into but even if I would have been, I can assure you that NONE of those things sound very lady-like and things that I think a REAL woman should have any desire to be involved with. Apparently down here there aren't many real women, just androgyny and bad morals and bad choices everywhere. In other words, just GIRLS, but not many women. Anyway, whatever happened to the smart, laid-back, more feminine but not "over the top" feminine (AKA--They don't have to go shopping every other minute to be happy) women who are selective with their intimate partners (AKA--In a relationship is when they'll do it) who don't like watching sports, can have fun WITHOUT needing alcohol all the time, don't enjoy violence or getting covered in mud, don't have any weird sexual desires for their own sex which are going to make me doubt if I'm really the team they want to play for, aren't foolish enough to be smoking dope, have grown up out of the bar and club thing once they're done with college, and who are comfortable in their own skin so they don't feel the need to DO anything to it because they think it's beautiful and great just the way it is?
Are they all gone? Do I need to move to freaking Utah or something? Oh, wait. They're mostly religious there, and I'm not. Or completely non-intimate even when they're IN an exclusive relationship. Which is not me. When in love and I'm exclusive with someone, I think that's just one more way you can express yourself and I am NOT strong enough to wait until marriage. Far from it. Sigh. So...what do I have to do to get a girl like this, even if it's only to be friends? Do I need to somehow force myself to become religious again just so I can get the attention of girls with brains, self-respect, morals, and a conscience? And do I need to get out of Florida so I can stop meeting so many women that have so many masculine interests they may as well start buying jock itch cream? I mean come ON. Where are all the kinds of women that I'm used to? Do I have to go back to the small towns I'm used to in Illinois???

So I was talking to this woman....
So I was talking to this woman online today and telling her why I thought I couldn't find anyone, the subject of "bad men", kids, and other such things and here's what I said.
Anyway, thanks....as I've always said....50-60 years ago women would be lined up around the block for someone like me, but we now live in an age where "thugs who treat women poorly" get the girls, and I'm not about to lower myself to that level just to have someone. So, I'd rather be single. But if you look around--I mean truly look around at the men women are choosing you really should have no difficulty in ascertaining why the divorce rate is so high. Although people in today's day and age hate it when you generalize, how you convey yourself via physicality as well as mannerism, at least for males, often times goes hand in hand about what kind of person they are. If they don't have respect for themselves or
others, many women think that kind of "I don't care" virility is somehow "hot" but, in essence, it just
indicates that they might be fun to play with in the bedroom because a lot of women unfortunately like to be man-handled and dominated like that, but it also indicates they're going to be VERY short-term
relationship partners or will end up being on the other end of a divorce one day.
So, anyway, I don't blame you for being particular on who you would want to mate with. I have female friends who are single, and I have female friends who have been stuck in marriages they wish they never started because that "virility" factor in their husbands ended up making them unsympathetic or cheating, and the list goes on and on. Quite frankly, certain traits go hand in hand with certain bad behaviors. Period. I know it seems like generalizing, but in all of my years of observation, it seems to be true.
As I've always said...this isn't freaking Disney here. In real life, a beast always stays a beast. There is no
prince when it comes to those types.
Oh, and yes, I've noticed how many women are afraid of kids nowadays. I think a lot of it stems from
selfishness though, to be honest with you. Although many have merit for wanting to avoid it due to the horrible choices in men out there, I think this generation was raised in such a "Gimme gimme gimme" society that giving to someone else means they won't get to have as much. But you know what? From the parents I've talked to, once their children are born, they all say it's the best thing they ever did and then overall they'd sacrifice anything for them. I think, until it happens, you just don't realize the true nature of what is really important and what is not.
As for being in fear...all you have to do, really, is put men through tests. Test him, test his friends....talk to people he's known the longest. I have always said that a person who has nothing to hide hides nothing. I'll let any girl who I'm dating talk to any and all of my friends and even girlfriends I'm still on good speaking terms with in order to better gage who I really am. And we're talking LONG time friends too. Some who have know me since we were in Jr. high together, a couple even in grade school. I know how difficult it is to believe someone when they often put their best foot forward in the beginning, but I have NO problem having a person I'm interested in getting input from others about me in order to form their own conclusions. How many men will say THAT? LOL

I woke up this morning and the glands in my throat were all swollen. Not sure what's going on. Anyway, nothing much planned for the day. Soooo boring. I'm trying to get a girl I met online from Lady Lake to hang out. She seems sweet and everything and, in addition, I'd really love an excuse to get back down to Lady Lake. I loved that town. Really quaint. The only thing I fear about going back there is running into Beth. I'm sure that would be awkward and I'd have no idea how I'd handle that. But anyway, nothing else to report!

Computer monitors and sitting on the throne
Well, here it is, 1:13 a.m. and I am having some serious stomach problems. I made the mistake of drinking my protein shake immediately before drinking a fruit smoothie. Apparently that puts my body into "I don't think so" mode.
On another note, I finally have my computer monitor choices narrowed down to two. It has been a solid 2 days of researching, but I needed to because, honestly, the CRT monitor I'm replacing has been with me for 20, yes 20 years, so what I get has to be of extremely good quality. It was the top of the line when I bought it and hasn't faltered one single day but, alas, times are a-changing, and it's time to get something that doesn't weigh a ton and can display some more lines of resolution. Maybe one day I'll even...gasp...get a Blu-Ray player.

Buying Electronics
Since I'm a bit of a techie and always have been, let me impart a little wisdom gained through experience when it comes to buying things.
1. Always do your homework. Read CUSTOMER AND Expert reviews at places like Bestbuy.com, amazon.com, and other electronics places.
2. When you buy, honestly....even if you decide to buy online, buy from a place that you can return it locally if you need to. Also, you'd be surprised, places like walmart.com and bestbuy.com and other local vendors often carry MANY more models online in addition to what they carry in their stores. Anyway, the ability to easily return something and not risk it get lost or damaged in the mail or not credited properly or having to incur expenses to ship it will seem like a Godsend.
3. When you buy it from a local place or even an online place that has a local avenue to return it, always go for the extra service plans, especially for t.v's. The newer technologies such as LED, LCD, and Plasma are nowhere NEAR as sturdy as the old-time CRT t.v. types. Some people have had the old tube televisions and monitors for 10-15 years before they even have one hiccup and then after a simple repair they can go another 10-15 years without even blinking. That technology has been around since 1934 (Germany) when they were first produced commercials for television sets. THAT is why they last such a long time, because we've had umpteen years to perfect them. But Plasmas, LED's, LCD's? Plasmas have only been around on a wider scale for 14 years, LCD's for around the same time frame if not a little less, and LED based technologies (Basically, they're all LED backlit LCD displays as opposed to being backlit by CFL tubes) for only around 3 years, although one trial model was available in 2004 but was still in its infancy.
So, what does this mean? Not enough time has passed for these technologies to be perfected very well, so when you buy make returns easy, extend the warranties, and do your homework! And this isn't just for tv's, but anything, really. Computer monitors, phones, stereo equipment...whatever you buy, protect yourself!

Wii Glorious Wii...and television matters.
I always get a kick out of saying the word Wii since it sounds like I'm talking about something else. Hey, I'll be there later. First I have to play with my Wii. Come on...it's kind of funny, right?
Anyway, my mom was trying to get me to upgrade my Sharp t.v. since it's one of those huge CRT's to a new LED or Plasma. Well, the t.v. I have is one of the last CRT big screens made so the quality on it is incredible. No, you can't get HD on it, nor can you play Blu-Ray movies because the resolution doesn't go that high, but the clarity on regular DVD's is astounding and since I don't have a box hooked up to this but rather just a standard Coaxial cable I get analog stations in MUCH more clearly than I would if I had a standard coaxial cable hooked into a digital television set. (Coax without going through a box is analog, and when you hooked an analog cable directly into a digital t.v. the clarity sucks)
Also, not many people are aware of this but the Wii, which I love to play, does not output in resolutions that are high enough to be the native resolution that most HDTV's are. What that means is that the t.v. itself has to do the signal processing to display it, which kind of makes a "delay", aka lag, that can be apparent during game play on HDTV's. (Old CRTs do NOT have this delay because they display images in lower resolutions that are more native to the Wii's output) There are some newer t.v's that have pretty much eliminated that, like the Sharp Aquos Quattron LED line which has this Vyper Drive game mode which helps eliminate that, as well as the Pioneer Viera 600HZ Plasma t.v.s which have virtually no lag time at all (Which most good, newer plasmas shouldn't anyway based on their design)...but those t.v's are freaking EXPENSIVE.
Okay, now that I've thoroughly confused the non-techies out there...sorry! LOL
